Christina Hippisley
General Manager
Christina became a director of the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce in the UK in 2006 and she has been the Chamber’s General Manager since February 2009.

After reading History at Trinity College, Cambridge, Christina started her career working for the Valin Pollen Group, an international advertising and public relations network with its HQ in London. The company eventually posted her to Lisbon, where she lived and worked for 10 years, in the process learning Portuguese and meeting a wide range of business contacts.

Christina then set up her own contract publishing business in Portugal, supplying guidebooks in several languages to the Portuguese Tourist Offices in Portugal and around the world, and publishing lifestyle magazines on behalf of large tourism resorts and hotel chains.

In 1998, Christina sold her business in Portugal to the London-based Hemming Group, and returned to London. She then continued her career in magazine and book publishing back in the UK, working in senior roles at the Hemming Group, Archant Specialist Media, Virgin Books, and Merricks Media. Since 2006 she has been focussing once again on UK-Portuguese business, working firstly for an international property developer with interests in Brazil and Portugal and latterly for the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce in the UK.

Christina is responsible for the Chamber’s programme of online and live Moving to Portugal Shows and Seminars, which are held in the UK every year and attract thousands of visitors.

She also runs the Chamber’s events programme with the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Portugal in the British Parliament. The purpose of the APPG is to increase awareness amongst members of the Houses of Parliament about Portugal; and to encourage political, trade and business relations between the UK and Portugal. Post Brexit, the APPG plays a vital role in connecting leading Portuguese companies with British politicians and senior British business people who have an interest in Portugal.

Christina also works on creating new event formats for the Chamber and on attracting and retaining new Chamber members.
