Christina Hippisley
General Manager
Christina joined the Chamber Council in 2006 and became the Chamber’s General Manager in February 2009.
After reading History at Trinity College, Cambridge, Christina started her career in advertising and media relations, working first in London and then in Lisbon, before moving into magazine publishing in 1988. Having built a successful book and contract magazine publishing business in Portugal, with offices in Lisbon and the Algarve, in 1996 she sold the business to the London-based Hemming Group and returned to London. She then continued her career in magazine and book publishing, working in senior roles at Archant Specialist Media, Virgin Books, and Bath-based publishers Merricks Media.
Namrata Majithia
Office & Events Manager
Namrata grew up in Lisbon, and speaks fluent Portuguese, English, Spanish, Hindi and Gujarati. She graduated in International Relations from the Universidade Autonoma de Lisboa in 2014 and has a Master of Governance and Human Rights from the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid in 2016.
In 2017 Namrata moved to London, where she worked simultaneously as a Fundraising & Events Officer for an anti-human trafficking organization and as a Research & Business Development Consultant for a sustainable power company.

Namrata will work on organising events that will enable Chamber members to expand their businesses and contacts here in the UK. She will also be working closely with Christina on our new members recruitment programme and in the Starting in the UK programme.
Mafalda Gamelas
Events Coordinator
Born and raised in Aveiro in Portugal, Mafalda graduated in Economics from the School of Economics and Management at the University of Porto in 2012 and then completed her Master’s degree in Management from the same University in 2015.
Pursuing her interest in the events industry, in 2018 she obtained a Diploma in Event Management for Marketing and Communications (CIM Accreditation) from the Event Academy in London.

As part of INOV Contacto, an International Internship programme sponsored by the Portuguese government, she moved to London in 2017 where she worked as a Junior Product Manager for the Portuguese National Tourist Office in the UK.

Mafalda then joined the Chamber in September 2017. She has been working on the Moving to Portugal events, mainly responsible for their operational management.
Jorge de Abreu
Jorge de Abreu is a founding partner of the leading Portuguese law firm Abreu & Marques e Associados, ( who are long standing Corporate members of the Chamber.
Abreu & Marques began in 1972 and was one the first Portuguese law firms to open offices abroad, beginning with their London branch which opened in 1987 and became a member of The Law Society. In 1992 the firm opened an office in Funchal to handle business with the Madeira International Business Centre. Currently it has associations with law firms in Angola and Mozambique and correspondents throughout Europe, the United States and in Brazil, via its membership of The Law Firm Network. In other areas of the world it has correspondents via its membership with Praelegal, another law firm network based in Germany, Istanbul and Qatar.
Simon Perks
Director of Algarve Region
Simon is the Director of the Chamber’s Algarve event programme. He is on the Council of the Chamber and a member of the Chamber’s management board.
Anne Darlington
Representative of Algarve Region
In September 2009 Anne joined the Chamber as our representative in Portugal, helping recruit new members and organising events. Anne also works for Abacus Financial Services, part of Price Waterhouse Group of Companies.
