On the 13th of June 2022, the Prime Ministers of Portugal and the UK met at 10 Downing Street and signed a Joint Declaration on bilateral relations.
This is a wide-ranging new agreement that sets out agreed priorities for collaboration between the two governments in the years ahead. It is an important step and a strong reminder of the ancient alliance between our two countries.
Shared priorities include defence, security, trade, foreign policy, investment, tax, education and British and Portuguese citizens’ rights in both jurisdictions.
In particular, under trade and investment, the document highlights the continued need for both governments to support enhanced engagement between non-Government actors such as business confederations and Chambers of Commerce.
The official Joint Declaration was signed in both languages.
