Ombria Algarve announces opening date of 5-star hotel including its 65 branded Viceroy Residences

Ombria Algarve, the luxury and sustainable resort in the Algarve, will officially open its 5-star hotel Viceroy at Ombria Algarve on 1st October 2024, giving guests and property owners access to 76 beautifully appointed hotel rooms, 65 branded residences and a selection of onsite amenities.

Ombria’s CEO, Patrick Freeman, comments: “We are delighted to confirm the launch date for Viceroy at Ombria Algarve which marks a particularly joyous milestone that will see the resort spring to life. Not only will owners of the Viceroy Residences be able to enjoy their property and the completed amenities but start generating a rental income when letting their abode to holidaymakers.”

According to Portugal’s National Statistics Institute, the Algarve remains one of the country’s most popular travel destinations and registered 2.2 million overnight stays in 2023; an uplift of 11.2% from 2022*.

The brand-new development is situated in a tranquil countryside setting, 2km from one of the Algarve’s largest Nature Reserves and 7km north of the town of Loulé, with Faro airport and the beaches a mere 25-minute drive away.

Guests and owners of the Viceroy Residences will have access to Ombria’s 18-hole signature golf course, clubhouse and all the facilities of the hotel including six restaurants that each pay homage to the resort’s locality by utilising produce either grown onsite or sourced locally.

Viceroy at Ombria Algarve will also be home to a fitness centre, four swimming pools with valley and sunset views, whilst the Kid’s Club will provide both outdoor and indoor spaces including a large playroom, mini kitchen and nursery. Holistic-focused Spa by Viceroy, equipped with a thermal pool, eight treatment rooms and beauty outlets such as a hairdresser and barber, will open in early 2025.

Most importantly, however, Ombria Algarve is dedicated to the health of the local land and ecosystem. A plant nursery will ensure the development and growth of local species and preservation of the existing flora and fauna, whilst over 700 oak trees have been planted and 1,800 linear metres of river habitat restored.

To ensure the company’s commitment to sustainability is incorporated in Ombria’s architecture, the team partnered with WATG who are responsible for the landscape architecture, WATG’s interior design firm Wimberly Interiors and award-winning Portuguese architect firm Promontorio. True to its slogan ‘Carved by Nature’, Ombria’s design features bioclimatic architecture, local materials and geothermal energy whilst focusing on low building density to perfectly integrate the properties into nature.

With only three of the 65 Viceroy Residences available for sale, buyers have already begun reserving homes at Oriole Village; a collection of 83 villas, townhouses and apartments that also form part of Ombria’s first building phase and will too be operated by Viceroy Hotels & Resorts. The hotel, Viceroy at Ombria Algarve, will be open year-round with rates starting from £450 / night for a Deluxe King Room on a B&B basis. Ownership for the remaining Viceroy Residences starts from 782,000 Euros for a spacious, fully-furnished one-bed apartment whilst properties at Oriole Village start from 900,000 Euros.
