We are delighted to announce that the Chamber continues to be the Public Enquiry Point for the All Party Parliamentary Group on Portugal, which held its 2020 AGM on Wed 14th October.
Several leading Conservative and Labour MPs, together with senior members of the House of Lords, have re-joined the group, and we are planning a series of live and virtual events over the next 12 months which will allow the APPG to increase awareness amongst MPs and Peers of the political situation in Portugal; to host meetings to enable MPs and Peers to meet Portuguese parliamentarians; and generally to improve the political, trade and business relations between the UK and Portugal.
The Chairman of the APPG Portugal is Stephen Hammond MP, who is the Conservative MP for Wimbledon. Mr Hammond has held several government posts, among them Under Secretary of State for Transport, and Minister of State at the Department of Health and Social Care.
When circumstances allow in 2021, some exclusive live APPG events will be held at the Houses of Parliament. For more information about sponsoring these events or for more details about the APPG Portugal, please contact Christina Hippisley.
